Photographer Ellen Von Unwerth

I just can't get enough of Ellen Von Unwerth's photography.

Whether in black and white or color, each image is expertly done.

I couldn't find an official site for her, but there are tons of other sites dedicated to her work.

Just query Google Images for "Ellen Von Unwerth" and tons of pictures pop up. I think I spent over an hour browsing through the results. You won't be disappointed.

Cannes Fashion

[Above] Claudia Schiffer - designer unknown

[Above] Natasha Poly and Eva Herzigova wearing the designs of the men they are pictured with: Domenico Dolce and Stefano Gabbana. I am particularly enamored of the leopard print gown Natasha is wearing (please don't tease!).

Photographer Renata Kaveh

I recently stumbled upon the work of Canadian photography Renata Kaveh. I immediately fell in love with her work.

I emailed her (she's fabulous, by the way) and got the opportunity to ask her a few questions. I've posted her responses here.

What is your inspiration? My inspiration is always changing..... sometimes it's the model in front of me at the time, sometimes it's the work of others like Tim Walker, David Bailey, Helmut Newton....(to name a few). Sometimes it's a place I've visited. I was recently in Paris, and I'm going again to shoot next week, and I'm finding the city and especially the women there particularly inspirational. The way they move, the disheveled sex hair, the pouts, the cigarette (yeah, I said it), how incredible and natural they look, (as there is often no makeup) and their style! It seems so fluid and effortless. J'aime Paris.

When did you start photography? I suppose I started when I was 7 or so...I'd line up all my Barbies on the window sill or on the Persian rug. I would "juge" their hair, style them appropriately of course, I even threw in Jem Barbie who was much bigger in dimension, and very exotic looking compared to the other girls (she was my fav)...and so I began impromptu photo shoots. The Barbies were great because they never complained, were always on time, and I didn't have to worry about "drug problems".

What is your favorite thing to photograph? My mom. She's hot, and I'm not just saying that because she's my mom....the woman is divine.

Renata is a Toronto-based photographer who has been hailed as one of the great emerging talents in fashion photography. She is currently focusing on fashion editorial shoots.

I highly recommend checking out her entire portfolio on her website.

Thank you, Renata!

Photographer Maile Roseland

These images are from the portfolio of Maile Roseland, a photographer that I went to high school with.

Her work is absolutely exquisite. I couldn't quite come up with a proper term for her style, but I think Maile's own description sums it up well: dreamlike. She desaturates the colors to create this effect.

Her inspiration comes from nature, as is evident in her photos. Each features some element of nature.

My favorite photos in her porfolio feature people. In many of the pictures, Maile acts as her own model. Her long blonde hair and blue eyes lend themselves well to her style.

Maile started taking pictures when she got her first camera at age 15. Though Maile now says she "cringes" when looking back at her first work, I think it is clear that she has blossomed as an artist.

More information about Maile and her full portfolio are available on her website.

Marchesa Showdown

There is something strange about the fact that I like Miley Cyrus' [left] take on this Marchesa dress better than the way Marchesa's own designer Georgina Chapman [right] wore it.

I like that the gold sequined portion of the dress is shorter than the chiffon overlay. Legs are my favorite part of the body to show off, and Miley's rendition makes that possible.

Rosemount Australian Fashion Week

Last week, the Aussies put on their own fashion week and had an impressive display of sartorial skills.

[Right] Silky trapeze dress from Ginger & Smart. The shoulder detail is a little odd, but I am in love with the fabric. I like that it looks like more of a geometric pattern rather than the tie-dye effect that is more common.

[Below] Jayson Brunsdon's collection was exquisite. There wasn't a piece that I didn't like, but these three images are the highlights.

Many of his dresses had delicate waist details, like in the dress below.

He also used bows and interesting fabrics.

Some of his most beautiful designs were simple and streamlined, like the wrap gown below.
